Common Questions
Q: Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep your existing number. Calls forward silently to the Voice AI after around 15 seconds. If you answer first, the AI never picks up. Your customers call the same number they always have.
Q: What happens if the AI gets something wrong?
Every call is transcribed and logged. You can review any conversation in your CRM or mobile app. If the AI books something incorrectly or mishandles a call, you'll see it immediately and can follow up. We also train the AI on your specific business before go-live to minimise this.
Q: Is there a fixed term locked in contract?
No. Monthly subscriptions have no lock-in. Cancel any time. The annual option (12 months for the price of 10) is non-refundable, so we'd only recommend it once you've completed your trial and are confident it's working.
Q: Is there VAT?
Not currently.
Q: What's the annual option?
Across all tiers, you can pay annually and get 12 months for the price of 10 — effectively two months free. This is non-refundable, so it's designed for clients who've already trialled the service and want to lock in the saving.
Q: Can I upgrade from one tier to another?
Yes. You can move from Tier 1 or Tier 2 up to Voice AI at any point. Founding Member pricing is only available during the current limited window — it cannot be applied retrospectively.
Q: Do you help with setup?
Yes — fully. Every tier is done for you or with you. If needed, we will guide you through domain name acquisition and pointing to our servers. For Voice AI and Missed Call Text-Back, setup includes number registration, AI training on your business, calendar integration, and testing before go-live.
Q: What about the website — can I edit it?
The website pages are built and maintained by MarketExtra. If you need changes, contact us directly. It's not a self-edit platform, though straightforward updates (opening hours, service area, pricing) are handled quickly.
How Does MarketExtra Compare?
Why not just use a cheaper AI tool?
A number of low-cost, self-serve AI receptionist products have recently appeared on the market, some priced as low as £29 + VAT a month. On the surface they look similar to what MarketExtra offers. In practice, the differences are significant.
These tools are designed to be set up by you, in under an hour, from your website or Google Maps profile. They answer calls and send you a summary by email. For a business owner with time to configure software and a simple enough operation, that may be enough.
For a tradesperson who is on the tools all day, it usually isn't. Here is what most of these products do not include:
- Real-time calendar availability. They will offer and book any time slot the customer requests — even if you are already booked. You then have to manually check for clashes.
- A proper CRM. Your customers' details go into a call log, not a structured database. There is no contact list to search, no pipeline to manage, and nothing to view on your phone between jobs.
- Missed Call Text-Back. If a call is not answered in time, nothing else happens. The lead is gone.
- Automatic reschedule and cancellation handling. If a customer wants to change their appointment, they have to contact you directly and you update your calendar yourself.
- Done-for-you setup. You configure everything: the AI training, the call forwarding, the calendar connection, the chat widget on the website. If something goes wrong, you troubleshoot it.
